The Wide Nose Paleobär
The Wide Nose Paleobär
An herbivoric landweller, though they have been observed to swim and catch fish.
Females live in herd of upwards of 12. Males are excluded from herds, only tolerated arorund breeding seasons. Males often live solitary lives, and are usually plucked off by large predators (as there is safety in numbers for this species, and males tend to be much smaller than females). Female herds lack a distinct hierarchy. They treat eachother as equals, and will often raise babies as a herd rather than individually.
Females have little to no dificulty fighting off lagre predators. Their large teeth and even larger stature help them bite into enemies, often scaring them away. They dig underground dwellings, where the babies stay until they are old enough to explore the world above ground. Males are kicked out of the herd once old enough to fend for themselves, and females stay with the herd to foster future generations. Often when herds encounter one another they engage ina cultural exchange of sorts. They are friendly towards one another, and have been observed to exhancge rocks or pebbles between eachother.
Males often live near river banks, and will engage in aggressive behavior when another male is encountered. Males try to impress female Paleobärs by bringing them pretty rocks or pebbles, offerings of plant, or fending off an enemy (though the latter usually fails).
