Ocean Adventure

The ship had been sailing for days and all they had seen was water. ‘Are you sure that this temple is even real?’ the captain stood next to me ‘the surface of this planet is mostly covered by oceans’. I looked at him, ‘you never know for sure until you find something, but I have a strong feeling that it's getting closer’. At night time the ship dropped anchor and I went to my cabin. Under the light of a small lantern I started studying my notes again. I had been looking for this place for ages, read every book, studied all the maps and even solved several riddles all to lead me to this place. I stayed up late looking through all the notes trying to find a more detailed description of where this temple was located. ‘Wait what was that’ the moonlight flickered through the cabin window and a previously blank page seemed to react. Bumping into several of the ship's crew I sprinted outside with the page in my paws. ‘Fenrir where are you going?’ it was the captain of the ship, he was talking to the first mate when he saw me climb on deck. ‘I might have found something!’ no idea if he actually heard me since I was already sprinting to the other side of the ship where the moonlight wasn’t stopped by any of the massive white sails. As soon as the light touched the paper all kinds of blueish lines started to appear forming a mystical looking map. ‘so how does this work?’ the captain had caught up to me while I was studying the map, ‘well I guess the ink used reacts to some specific type of light the moon here gives off’. The captain pointed at the map ‘no not that, I mean the fact that the temple is deep underwater’ I laughed ‘oh I prepared for a situation just like this’

‘Sir come look’ a young alien was knocking on my cabin door, ‘the captain said I had to get you, we have arrived’. I grabbed a bag that had been sitting in the corner of the room and went up to the deck. ‘Fenrir, look over there under the water’  the barrelman pointed to the right side of the boat where you could see the darkened shape of the temple. ‘So tell me, how are you going to get there?’ it was the captain again ‘you’re not one of those marine Xero thingies are you?’. He looked at my tail and paws, ‘no but I got the best alternative’ I said while opening the bag. The rest of the crew had gathered around me and I pulled out the first item. It looked like a marine Xero tail fin but made out of some sort of flexible plastic, I strapped it to my tail and moved it around a bit. Of course with this tail I also had something to put on my paws to make them look webbed.  ‘Just like the real thing!’ I said while pulling out a breathing device out of the bag ‘and this little thing here will make it so I can breath down there’.

The water wasn’t cold at all and I quickly got the hang of my tailfins. There were two other aquatic alien crew mates with me and we swam to the temple within no time. It was beautiful, built with white and blue stones and gold accents and there were statues all around. Taking pictures on the way we tried to find a patch to the center of the temple hoping to run into some treasures. Luckily there were no traps but we did have to look out for some more dangerous sea creatures roaming the area. The temple was huge and the tunnels inside did feel like a maze, but after a while we found the center room. There were some small chests along the walls with some gems and small items inside that the other two packed but in the middle of the room was a golden crown and a big blue and white trident that just grabbed my attention. I swam towards them and looked around to make sure I wouldn’t trigger any traps and there it was, hidden in the ceiling was a cage that would drop down as soon as the crown or trident got moved. Looking around the room all I could see was the big boxes that we just looted and I instructed the others to move them around the center. Carefully I grabbed the treasures and the cage dropped down, landing perfectly on the boxes. The space that the boxes helped create was just big enough for me to swim through and we escaped the temple with great prizes and pictures to remember it by.
