Enjoying the winter solstice

'Ah hell no, it's way too early' Nyx slammed her paw at the screaming alarm clock to snooze it. 5 minutes later it started again, she groaned and put her pillow over her ears. It didn't work and she slowly rolled out of bed. 'Xee turn on my music' Xee was the ai Nyx had built years ago, but it was basically a fancy voice control system so that she would have to do as much. Music started playing as she followed with another command, 'Xee start my morning routine'. In the kitchen you could hear water starting to boil and two slices of perfectly toasted bread popped out of the toaster. She grabbed the bread 'frick that's hot' and placed some cheese slices on it. *Click* her tea was ready, she quickly grabbed the cup and sat behind her desk cracking her knuckles. 'You have an appointment at 3' Xee said right when she typed in her password. 'ughh can I change it'... Xee didn't respond… 'Xee can I change or cancel the appointment?'. 'Negative, you promised the people at Arc to check and update their security systems'... She spun around in her chair 'I shouldn't have hacked those in the first place even if it was just to prove their security is weak'.

After finishing her breakfast she grabbed a bomberjack out of the closet and put on her headphones, 'Xee please remind me to never make promises again'.

It was the winter solstice around Harbor and all the creatures big and small were getting ready for the longest night. Snow had covered the city in a thin white layer of fluffy coldness and Nyx shivered 'I hate winter'. When a neighbor spotted her they yelled 'Nyx honey' she rolled her eyes, 'I think my computer is broken again could you please have a look'. Nyx looked at the time, shouldn't be a problem. The small older lady walked Nyx inside her apartment… 'Delores did you move the computer again?' the lady tilted her head 'well yes why do you ask?'. A deep breath left Nyx's lungs as she held up the power cord. 'If you move the computer it's pretty important that you plug it back in' she said with a sarcastic tone as she plugged it in. Delores laughed and thanked her for helping as Nyx quickly headed for Arc again. 

Loud music was playing on her headphones as she walked past a small bakery… and then turned around to walk inside. 'One hot chocolate and a ru berry muffin please, to go' the Xero at the counter smiled 'good to see you too Nyx'. It was her favorite place, the baked goods in the store were just irresistible for her sweet tooth, she even had her regular spot in the corner where she could get out her laptop and continue working. A bit later the Xero handed her the order 'not staying today?'

'Nope, got a meeting at Arc and I'm already to late'

'Nyx is there even a moment when you are on time?' the Xero laughed

'When it's something I actually care about… maybe'

'Well then have a good winter solstice!'

Nyx walked out the door and lifted her paw as a quick goodbye. 

At the Arc lab Nyx talked to a group of technicians and other 'tech experts', as she'd like to call them. She showed them the weak spots in the system and how to fix it, even gave them a small drive 'if you dare you can always use my program'. She knew they wouldn't use it, they were too careful and couldn't risk using her program since they wouldn't fully know everything it did. Oh well she didn't need backdoors anyway.
