Character Leadup: Dr. Frankie

“Dr. Frankie?”
“Yes?” Frankie spun around and immediately sighed. She didn’t recognize the Xero before her, and that usually meant that they had a business proposition. “What do you want?”

The blue Xero flinched. “Er… hope I didn’t catch you on a bad day.”
Frankie glanced over the other… doctor, it seemed. They had a lab coat, but the decorative pattern was different. They weren’t from this clinic, in any case. “Sorry if I’m abrasive, but I’ve been getting approached for a lot of research businesses.”
“So, we’re research related, but we’re not looking for your clinic. We want you.”
Frankie hard stopped, shutting her eyes for a moment. “You want like… me to come there? For consulting? Wherever you work?”

“Kind of!” The xero brightened up and pulled a holo-pad from his lab coat. “My benefactor is recruiting a bunch of people for a major research project. It’s already a few stages in so the major big deal experimental phase is over. We’re exploring a new world, and we need somebody who specializes in field medicine and isn’t afraid of danger to join our away team.”

Frankie turned away and shook her head. She rubbed the top of her head with her paw, beginning to pace. “Wow. So you came… straight to me, no phone, or… anything. Just came up in the clinic. To recruit me for an offworld venture of some sort?”
The mysterious Xero shrugged. “We’re on a bit of a schedule, and… we’re trying to be fairly discrete. The less people spoken to, the better.”
Frankie crossed her arms and started to glare. “Are we talking--”
“OH! Goodness, no. It’ll be better explained there, but we’re very much keeping this on the down low. You just happened to fit what we were looking for. A doctor in background with field medicine, better than your average EMT, experienced with dangerous situations. So. Are you game?”

Frankie looked around at the clinic, seeing the other doctors. Patients in their rooms. The desks. Yeah, a breath of fresh air really would do her a lot of good. “Okay, say I’m interested. What do I have to do?”
“Make it do B’Haddu in one piece, and we’ll take care of the rest. Does that sound fine?”
“That does sound fine. B’Haddu, huh?” Frankie turned and made a pulling motion with her paw, indicating to follow her. The shorter Xero grinned and quickly caught up to her as she walked.

“The desert helps us a lot, shockingly enough. You’ll probably get a few days to look around before we actually do any meetings, but we’ve got your travel and room arrangements all taken care of, you just have to follow me whenever you’re ready.”

“...This benefactor of yours is in a hurry, isn’t he?”
“Yeah, he’s a little excitable.”
