P.s. please Nyx, consider using your skills for something good and join ARC. I know we’ve been hard on you and put you under loads of pressure when you were little but let me make this right.

‘Every single years it's the same old story, the automated messages and then his little customization’ 

‘Xee please delete that message’ she said while putting on a jacket. She put on her headphones and pulled the hood over her head. ‘Time to “socialize”’

It was busy as always in harbor, people of all sizes, shapes and species roaming the streets. Busy shops and stores and market stalls with heaps of people trying to get the attention of the stall owner. Nyx walked into a small coffee shop ‘one hot chocolate with caramel’, the barista looked at her ‘ah Nyx good to see you again, any plans for today?’. Nyx looked at him and pressed a button on her headphones, ‘I asked if you had any plans’. She looked at him and shook her head ‘no nothing special, just have to pick something up in Torini’. ‘Well then have fun’ he handed her the drink and she started walking to the station. 

Sipping on her drink she looked out the window watching the beautiful landscape of OWAI-6. This is what she did every hatchday, she would get up, ignore the mails from ARC and travel to Torini, to one of her favorite cafes. She hated her hatchday, a yearly event to remind her of when she was just a little child, the pressure that forced her in the underground and lonely life she was living today. ‘Next stop, Torini’, the train conductor's voice pulled her out of her thinking. 

The familiar ringing of the shop door was followed by an absolutely delicious smell, she took a deep breath. ‘Smells delicious as always’ she took off her headphones and looked at the pastries in the display case. ‘Nyx, good to see you!’ good to see you too Verbena ‘what can I help you with on this completely normal day’ Nyx laughed ‘thank you’. A bit later one of the waitresses walked to her table handing her a sweet dragonfruit tea, a piece of strawberry cake and a creamy vanilla donut. Nyx smiled, looked out of the window and started to enjoy her food. 

‘Thanks for the delicious food’ Nyx was just walking away when Verbena stopped her. ‘Here this is for when you get home’, she handed Nyx a small bag ‘until next time!’. 

Nyx opened the bag, a brownie and a small birthday candle. She placed it on a plate and lit the candle, ‘well then, happy hatchday to me I guess’.
